CCTV Subsidy Program launches for residents and businesses

The Shire of Serpentine Jarrahdale has launched a new subsidy program to assist with the cost of Closed-Circuit Television (CCTV) security systems for our community.

From 2 September 2024 until 30 June 2025, or until funding runs out (whichever comes first), eligible residents and businesses can receive a one-off payment of up to $300 for DIY installations or up to $500 for professionally installed security systems. Participants in the subsidy program may use the funds to upgrade an existing CCTV system, provided they meet certain technical requirements.

Shire President Rob Coales said he’s pleased the CCTV Subsidy Program has been made available to make security systems more accessible for the community.

“We understand how important it is for local residents and businesses to feel safe and comfortable within their community,” Shire President Coales said.

“The 2022 Community Perceptions Survey ranked crime and safety concerns as a top priority, with a specific focus on crime prevention through the use of technology. This means expanding CCTV across the Shire and making that as accessible as possible for our residents and local businesses,” he continued.

“Community safety is a top priority, and we’ll continue to take on board community feedback to create safer streets and spaces for all.”

The Shire allocated $50,000 in the 2024/25 Budget to fund this CCTV program as part of our commitment to the Community Safety and Crime Prevention Plan 2023-2027 (CSCPP).

The CCTV Subsidy Program is a voluntary opt-in program for applicants who meet the terms and conditions for eligibility. Applicants are encouraged to read the terms and conditions before completing a pre-eligibility form.
