Your Property

Taking care of your property, including the verge, plays an important role in enhancing the liveability and amenity of our suburbs.

The Shire encourages all property owners, managers. or residents to maintain the verge, including mowing, mulching, pruning and weeding.

Trees are an important natural asset that provide many environmental, economic and social benefits.

It is important that we maintain SJ’s tree canopy with healthy street trees for a variety of reasons. More trees mean lesser energy demands as they create naturally cooler areas. They also create wind breaks.

We encourage you to find out about the SJ Street Tree Program, by heading here:  Verge and Street Trees » Shire of Serpentine Jarrahdale (sjshire.wa.gov.au)

Community Safety

Going on holiday? You can register your property for the Shire’s free Holiday Watch Patrol Service and Shire rangers will drive by your property to make sure all is ok. To register, and for full details of the service, head here: Holiday Watch Patrol Service » Shire of Serpentine Jarrahdale (sjshire.wa.gov.au)

Stay Fire Safe!

About 97 per cent of our Shire has been declared bushfire prone. That means it’s vital you make sure your property is as fire safe as possible.

Ensure firebreaks are prepared, make sure buildings are safe, and consider installing external building sprinkler systems and backup power for emergencies. Discover more here: Fire and Emergency Management » Shire of Serpentine Jarrahdale (sjshire.wa.gov.au)

It’s important to plan ahead for emergency situations – it could save you and your family’s life.

Emergency WA is your go-to website in the case of State Government issued warnings, such as bush fire danger.
