The Shire uses social media to communicate and engage with our community on a diverse range of topics.

If you like or follow us on social media, you can expect to see the latest news, updates, event announcements and information about our latest projects and initiatives. We also regularly advertise opportunities for you to get involved and have your say on projects, plans and strategies that interest you.

Due to the volume and number of different types of requests we receive, these cannot be answered or resolved via social media.

You should contact us online, by phone or in writing if you:

  • have a general question or enquiry
  • need to request a service or report an issue
  • would like to give us official feedback
  • wish to make a complaint

Respect

To ensure that our social media channels promote community discussion that is respectful and that everyone can enjoy, we have a few guidelines for you to follow. 

When interacting with our social media pages, we ask that you do not post anything that:

  • is threatening, harassing or bullying
  • is inappropriate, violent, obscene, profane, hateful, derogatory, racist or sexist language
  • discusses or promotes behaviour that is unlawful
  • compromises public safety or security
  • infringes copyright, intellectual and privacy laws
  • acts only to advertise or promote a politician, political candidate or commercial organisation
  • is spam, repetitive and non-relevant content
  • discloses personal information such as names, email addresses, phone numbers or private addresses
  • is defamatory to any person or organisation

We reserve the right to remove content that violates these guidelines, at the Shire’s absolute discretion.

Social media users may also be banned from the Shire’s social media channels should they violate these guidelines, at the Shire’s absolute discretion.
