Subdivision Clearance

A ‘subdivision clearance’ is the approval of a subdivision subject to conditions to be cleared.

The Western Australian Planning Commission may grant subdivision approval, subject to conditions (WAPC Model subdivision conditions schedule). These conditions generally require works to be undertaken or information to be provided. Each condition is provided with a responsible authority who is responsible for checking that the works have been undertaken or the information provided in a manner that satisfies the condition.

The Shire is often responsible for a number of conditions and will provide to the subdivision applicant, an officer contact sheet for each condition once approval has been granted. The Shire requires an application for the clearance of conditions to be lodged once the condition requirements have been met. This application is called a Subdivision Condition Clearance Application.

Any works and information relating to a condition that the local government is the responsible authority for, should be provided to the Shire and confirmation sought that the condition requirements have been met, prior to a Subdivision Condition Clearance Application being lodged.  The Shire will provide a letter with the Shire’s expectations regarding the fulfilment of the conditions of subdivision, to subdividers when the subdivision approval is received. This document provides the standards and expectations for each condition and the Shire anticipates that these expectations are met. The subdivision Condition Clearance Application must include the 'Conditions requested for clearance'  form demonstrating how compliance with the subdivision conditions has been met.

Lodging a subdivision clearance application

To lodge a subdivision clearance application, you will need to complete the following steps.

  • You can submit a Subdivision Clearance application by following steps 1 – 3 and email it to
  1. A completed Subdivision Clearance Application Form and Checklist
  2. Payment of fees – fees and charges
  3. Signed Certificate of Practical Completion

Incomplete applications will not be accepted.
