Rural Strategy 2013

The overall purpose of the Rural Strategy is to preserve and enhance the Shire’s rural character and its role as an important economic contributor to the Shire and broader region.

There is a need to balance urban and rural areas with a view to enhancing the rural areas of the Shire through maintenance of character and facilitating economic activity.

The Rural Strategy has guided development in the Shire of Serpentine-Jarrahdale since 1994 and this document presents the 2013 update to the Rural Strategy, building on the existing provision and subsequent revisions thereto.

It contains objectives, an explanation of the Policy Areas and Overlays as well as a consolidated Strategy map.  The Rural Strategy will be replaced by the Local Planning Strategy which has incorporated key themes and objectives for the rural areas from the Rural Strategy.
