Expressions of Interest open for external members 

The Shire is seeking Expressions of Interest from external members for the following:

Audit, Risk and Governance Committee

Expressions of Interest for external members are sought for the Shire’s Audit, Risk and Governance Committee.

 The Shire’s committee has important responsibilities under the Local Government Act 1995.  Membership of the Committee is made up of a combination of Councillors (elected members) and 2 independent, external members.

Appointments to the committee are made by Council in October following the local government elections.  Appointments are for a two-year period.

Under legislation, external members are not permitted to be paid but reimbursement of reasonable costs as agreed by Council on appointment can occur.  Applicants should provide an estimate of these costs in their response to the Expression of Interest.

Access and Inclusion Advisory Group 

The Shire is seeking nominations for six (6) community member positions, nominations can be from individuals or relevant organisation representatives. All applicants are required to have direct interest or lived experience related to access and inclusion.

Appointments to the committee are merit based and will be made by Council at the November Ordinary Council Meeting. Appointments are for a two-year period.

Equine Advisory Group

Nominations are invited from members of the Serpentine Jarrahdale Equine Community to participate in the Equine Advisory Group.

 The purpose of this group is to provide the Shire with advice in regards to the needs and priorities of the Serpentine Jarrahdale Equine Community and support Council in the delivery of projects to enhance the Serpentine Jarrahdale Equine Industry and Community.

 The Equine Advisory Group is to consist of 10 community members comprising:

  • 2x Representatives from the Racing Industry
  • 2x Representatives from the Equestrian disciplines
  • 2x Representatives from the Leisure and trail riding group
  • 2x Representatives from the Keeping of retired and companion horses group
  • 2x Representatives from Equine businesses
