SJ Christmas Lights Competition 2023
The SJ Christmas Lights Competition is done and dusted for another year, with a collection of dazzling displays taking out top honours in 2023.
More than 2000 votes were received for the public choice awards, while Shire of Serpentine Jarrahdale President Rob Coales and Community Bank Byford & Districts Chairman Jake Branley awarded the judges choice categories.

How are the winners decided?
Judges Choice
The Shire President and representatives from our sponsor Community Bank Byford & Districts will head out to view the shining displays and choose the winners.
Public Choice
- Best Christmas Lights Display: Click here to vote for your favourite light display
- Best Decorated Street: This year we bring a new Street category to the competition! The community of Blackberry Ramble in Byford have rallied together with a whopping 11 houses putting on an amazing display. Check out the photos below and make sure to visit in person.
What prizes are up for grabs?
Best Christmas Lights Display – Public Choice
Open to all residential and commercial properties this category has three prizes available:
- 1st - $1,000
- 2nd - $500
- 3rd - $250
Best Decorated Street – Public Choice
Is your street a Christmas Wonderland? Nominate with a minimum of 4 houses for your chance to be crowned Best Decorated Street
- $1,000 prize to be split evenly among nominated addresses
Best Overall Display – Judges Choice
Chosen by our judges from all the entries nominated
Best First-Time Entry – Judges Choice

What are the key dates?
- Registrations open: Monday 13 November 2023
- Registrations close: 10am, Monday 4 December 2023
- Lights displays ready: 4 December 2023
- Voting opens: 12 noon, Friday 8 December 2023
- Voting closes: 2pm, Monday 18 December 2023
- Winners announced: Tuesday 19 December 2023
