Helen - Byford Uniting Church Op Shop

Helen Rowe was recognised as a part of the Shire’s Volunteer Recognition Program for her hard work with the Byford Uniting Church Op Shop.  Helen received a $100 voucher to a restaurant of her choice located within the Shire.

We asked Helen a few questions about her experience volunteering:

How did you get involved volunteering for your group?

I realised there was a need for an op-shop in Byford so my husband Daryl and I started it.

How long have you been involved in volunteering?

I have been working at the Uniting Church op-shop crisis care for a long time.

What do you enjoy most about volunteering?

I enjoy helping others in need and meeting new people. I enjoy the feeling that I am helping the community, putting a smile on children and adults faces and giving them happiness.

What makes your group special to you?

The group is special because I get to work with a good group of people and get to make new friends.

Why would you recommend others to get involved in volunteering?

I would recommend volunteering as there is great satisfaction in helping others.
