Technology implemented for the Shire of Serpentine Jarrahdale’s Briggs Park floodlighting system has been recognised with the Best Use of Technology Award at the Parks and Leisure 2020 WA Awards of Excellence.

The floodlighting technology, developed by Industrial Automations Group, was implemented as part of the $3.9 million upgrade of Briggs Park and allows user groups to set the level of lighting required for their activity, ranging from as low as 50 lux up to 300+ lux.

Shire President Michelle Rich said the floodlighting technology means that user groups are only charged for the level of lux lighting they select and for the time period it is used, rather than the traditional set hourly usage fee.

“Full management of the lighting system is cloud based and allows Shire staff to allocate access to users via their smart phones,” Cr Rich said.

“The system also allows greater transparency for user groups about the costs associated when using the floodlighting and minimise their carbon footprint.

“It is fantastic that our local sporting clubs have access to first-class facilities in a way that that is equitable for all users.

“I would also like to acknowledge our project contractor, Industrial Automations Group, for their support in developing the floodlighting technology.”
