Unrestricted Burning Period to commence Monday, 23 May at 1800hrs (6pm)

The Shire has brought forward the unrestricted burning period to 1800hrs Monday, 23 May.

This is essentially shortening of the restricted period by 10 days in accordance with Delegation 3.1.2 and s17 of the Bush Fires Act 1954

It is important to understand your responsibilities during the Unrestricted Burning Period. This includes:

  • If the Fire Danger Rating is Very High or above and/or a Total Fire Ban has been put in place then no burning is permitted. 
  •  It is your legal responsibility to check prior to undertaking any burn.
  • Health legislation is also still applicable.
