More than 2,000 kids and their families will descend on Jarrahdale Oval on Sunday 25 June to celebrate muddy outdoor play in the bush at Muddy Buddies free community event!

The Shire of Serpentine Jarrahdale has engaged Nature Play WA to run the Muddy Buddies event promoting the health and wellbeing benefits of adventurous play in the outdoors.

Shire President Cr Michelle Rich said the event was an excellent opportunity to activate Jarrahdale. “This is an excellent way for Shire residents and visitors to experience the natural beauty Jarrahdale has to offer,” Cr Rich said. “We know our community is keen to see more local events held in Jarrahdale and we’re excited to be partnering with with Nature Play WA to deliver this fantastic day out for the whole family.”

Nature Play WA CEO Dr Kelsie Prabawa-Sear said the event would showcase the benefits of outdoor play, even in colder weather.

“Muddy Buddies offers families the chance to try something new, getting muddy and messy together, in the beautiful Jarrahdale bushland,” Dr Prabawa-Sear said.

“We know that time playing outdoors and in nature is fantastic for kids’ physical and mental health and is a great way to build memories together as a family. And here in WA, we are incredibly lucky to have so many wonderful parks and natural spaces to enjoy.”

The day will include two hugs mud pits, cubby building, climbing and nature activities. Shire staff will be in attendance to chat about the development of Jarrahdale as one of WA’s top trails destinations and to provide kids with an up-close look on how worms can be used to process food and waste. Local community groups and the Jarrahdale Fire Brigade will also join in the fun with a sausage sizzle.
