The Shire of Serpentine Jarrahdale welcomes this week’s Nature Playground and Water Splash Park election commitment from the State Government.

Premier Mark McGowan and Labor candidate for Darling Range Hugh Jones committed a future Labor Government to $1.3 million to help fund a Nature Playground and Water Splash Park in Byford’s town centre.

Last month Liberal Leader Zak Kirkup and Darling Range MLA Alyssa Hayden committed a future Liberal Government to spending $5 million for a Nature Playground and Water Splash Park in Byford.

Shire President Michelle Rich said the announcements from both major parties in the past month was a testament to the extensive advocacy work that the Shire had undertaken to bring urgently needed State funding to the growing Serpentine Jarrahdale region.

“To meet the growing needs of our Shire, we have a comprehensive list of priorities endorsed by Council which aims to maximise investment from all levels of government,” Cr Rich said.

“Our priorities include a Nature Playground and Water Splash Park.

“We are pleased to have received funding commitments from both major parties, which will allow us to progress this exciting community project after the State election for the benefit of families and young children in our Shire.”
