The Shire of Serpentine Jarrahdale’s General Grants program continues to support local clubs, with the Byford Bushrangers among the successful recipients.

The tee-ball, softball and baseball club secured more than $3,800 through the July 2020 round of the Shire’s General Grants program, which has helped them to greatly boost their equipment stocks ahead of the winter season.

With the grant the club was able to purchase 20 new helmets, 10 new equipment bags, three sets of heavyweight bases, two safety screens for pitching practice and a pair of 9-metre nets for baseball.

Club president Jeff Ryan said the new equipment was vital to ensuring the club was well supplied as numbers continue to grow.

“The growth of the Byford area means our club numbers are continually on the rise, which is great, but it means we need to keep our inventory full and that can be a challenge,” he said.

“This type of funding allows the club to ensure players and volunteers have the safest and newest equipment available and ensure the cost is not a burden to player's fees.

“We look forward to continuing the relationship between the Shire and the club for many years to come.”

Current grant programs open include Youth Leadership and Training, Friendly Neighbourhoods Grants and Sporting Travel Grants.
