Learn tips to save water at home in this informative workshop on home water efficiency. This workshop is designed to empower residents with the knowledge they need to interpret water bills and reduce water use in the home. The content in this workshop is presented in two sections. The first will explain how water consumption is billed and provide details on the Water Efficiency Labelling and Standards (WELS) labelling scheme. This federally mandated system is used to record the water efficiency of various fixtures and features throughout the home including showers, toilets, and internal/external taps. The second section will include a breakdown of the average Perth households water consumption and tips on how you can reduce water use at home. There will also be a practical demonstration on how to measure flow rate of your own fixtures and simple solutions to improve their performance. We will share a simple methodology for calculating the return on investment for installing water saving fixtures throughout the home to help you understand the benefits of installing these systems. This workshop is proudly hosted by the Shire of Serpentine Jarrahdale on behalf of Switch your Thinking.
