We’re working to implement our new green waste and pre-booked bulk waste collection services.

We recognise the closure of the Waste Transfer Station is frustrating. Please know that we are doing everything we can to have these new services in place as quickly as possible.

There is also a lot of interest about what is happening with the Waste Transfer Station. Here are the key points:

It was closed on 5 October 2023 after fragments of asbestos were found onsite, and it remains closed for the safety of our community and our staff.

Re-opening the Waste Transfer Station is not as simple as going in and removing the asbestos. Independent consultants are carrying out detailed investigations and will provide a report and recommendations for making the site safe.

The independent consultant’s report is expected by June 2024. This will inform next steps.
