Skill Up Program to empower SJ’s young minds

The Shire of Serpentine Jarrahdale is shining the spotlight on empowering young minds through the launch of its new Skill Up Program.

A comprehensive initiative aimed at providing young people between the ages of 12 and 24 with invaluable skills to prepare them for the workforce, the program will consist of a variety of courses running from February to September completely free of charge.

  • First Aid
  • White Card Training (Construction Industry)
  • Responsible Service of Alcohol
  • Interview Success
  • Helping Minds Workshops
  • Job Searching Tips and Tricks

Shire President Rob Coales said the program was designed to equip SJ’s youth with essential skills needed to thrive in the job market.

“These courses encompass a diverse range of subjects, catering to various interests and career paths,” President Coales said.


“Skill Up 2024 is a unique opportunity for young people to gain practical knowledge and certifications that will not only bolster their resumes but also contribute to their personal growth.


“The Shire is excited to be teaming up with Wormall Civil, the Peel Development Commission and Alcoa to deliver this program.”
Key certificates offered as part of the Skill Up Program include the White Card for the construction industry, First Aid, Responsible Services of Alcohol and much more.
