The Shire of Serpentine Jarrahdale is thrilled to announce the launch of the inaugural SJ Remembers
Community History Awards, a celebration of the rich history and heritage that defines our community.

Shire President Rob Coales expressed his enthusiasm for this new initiative saying the SJ Remembers
Community History Awards highlight the importance of preserving and honoring our local history.

“We’re excited to recognise the contributions of individuals and groups who have dedicated themselves to sharing the stories and traditions that make our community unique."

The awards, organised by SJ Library Services, encompass a range of categories including Written Memoir,
Photographic Memory (pre-2000), Original Research, and Oral History.

Winners in each category will receive a prize of $500, with $200 awarded to runners-up. All winners will also receive their awards at a prestigious Community History Awards Presentation Night in June.

"We encourage everyone in our community to participate and share their stories," added President Coales.

"The SJ Remembers Community History Awards not only celebrate our past but also reinforce our
commitment to community engagement and recognising the outstanding efforts of those who have shaped
our history."

The submission period for the awards is open from 22 April to 31 May. Entries can be submitted in person at
Byford Library or online through the Shire of Serpentine Jarrahdale website.
