Reflecting on 100 Days of Achievements

It’s been 100 days since Shire President Rob Coales took office, and let's just say, it's been a journey of reflection, progress and process improvement, both by Council and the organisation.

Here's a quick snapshot of what's been achieved so far:

  1. Council in the Community: There’s been a significant push for greater community involvement. The rebirth of the "Council in the Community" initiative has brought our local representatives closer to you, fostering open dialogue and collaboration.
  2. Community Group Sundowner: Cheers to the Community Group Sundowners! One of Rob’s election promises was to get community groups together to share ideas and build a stronger sense of unity. Our first Christmas Community Group Sundowner was a great event which garnered positive feedback from all and these gatherings are set to continue!
  3. OCMS Streamlined: The wheels of local governance are turning more efficiently with the introduction of streamlined processes. The passing of motions en bloc through the Online Council Management System (OCMS) is making decisions smoother and more responsive to community needs.
  4. Open Mic for Residents and Ratepayers: Your voice matters! We believe in an engaged community. We’ve made changes so residents and ratepayers can now ask questions or make statements without prior notice, fostering a culture of transparency and inclusivity.
  5. Post OCM Wrap Ups with All Councillors: Collaboration at its finest! Regular wrap-up sessions ensure that every Councillor is invited to share insights and perspectives, promoting a unified front in serving the community's best interests.
  6. Increased Visibility in the Media: Our Councillors are not just names on paper anymore! We’ve invited the group to step into the spotlight, appearing alongside media to showcase the hard work and dedication of our local leaders.
  7. Enhanced Internal Transparency: Shining a light on decision-making processes! There's been an increase in internal transparency, with shared information from Shire President and CEO meetings, making sure you're informed about the discussions that shape our community.

In just 100 days, these initiatives have created a stronger bond between Council and the community.

Let's keep the momentum going – because together, we're not just residents and Councillors; we're the sum of all our parts!
