The Bureau of Meteorology has declared a severe heatwave warning across large parts of Western Australia, including Serpentine Jarrahdale.

Temperatures exceeding 40 degrees are forecast to linger from Thursday, 8 February through to Sunday, 11 February. The start of the week will bring a slight reprieve with mid-30s temperatures forecast on Monday and Tuesday, before a return to a top of 40 on Wednesday.

Severe heatwaves can be dangerous for many people including seniors, babies and young children.

Residents are urged to keep cool during the heatwave by closing all windows and blinds, drinking plenty of water and utilising fans or air conditioners.
