Frank

Frank was recognised for his hard work for Byford Volunteer Bushfire Brigade.  Frank received a $100 voucher to a restaurant of his choice located within the Shire of Serpentine Jarrahdale.

We asked Frank a few questions about his volunteering experience.

How did you get involved in volunteering for your group?

I have always been involved in volunteering to some degree but when I left the armed services and settled in Byford, it became part of my lifestyle together with Colleen.

How long have you been involved in volunteering?

To some degree about 50 years but for the last 40 years I have been involved in various volunteer groups in the Shire of Serpentine Jarrahdale.

What do you enjoy most about volunteering?

I get satisfaction when achieving goals with some of the groups I have been associated with and particularly with the volunteer fire brigade when we have been able to prevent damage to the owner’s property. I also enjoy meeting and talking to people. Furthermore, I have met and had conversations with people who I would not otherwise have met if not in the course of volunteering.

What makes your club/group special to you?

I have made lifelong friends in several organisations and that is really special.

Why would you recommend others to get involved in volunteering?

You have the satisfaction of achievement, you will not be bored and you form friendships.
