Storm damage: who to contact for help

Published on Wednesday, 3 June 2026 at 3:00:00 PM

After the wild weather over the weekend, many people across the Shire are still dealing with storm clean-up, including fallen branches, property damage, drainage issues and power issues.

Now that winter is here, more rain and wild weather is coming – but  it’s not always clear who to contact when something goes wrong.

Some issues are managed by the Shire, while others require contacting emergency services or utility providers directly.

Use this guide to find the right contact for your situation.

Contact the Shire

Call 9526 1111 to report:

  • Fallen trees or large branches on local roads
  • Debris, hazards or damage on Shire roads
  • Blocked drains or localised flooding
  • Damage to parks, reserves, playgrounds or public facilities

Fallen trees and branches

  • On local roads → call the Shire (9526 1111)
  • On major roads or highways → call Main Roads WA (138 138)
  • On private property → typically a private matter between neighbours or a contractor
  • Causing damage and making your home unsafe → call SES (132 500)

Storm damage to your home

Call SES (132 500) if you need emergency help, including:

  • Significant roof damage
  • Flooding inside your home
  • Fallen trees or debris making your home unsafe

For life-threatening emergencies, always call 000.

Fallen powerlines

Stay well away from fallen or damaged powerlines.

If you see anything impacting powerlines, call Western Power (13 13 51) immediately.

Do not touch anything in contact with a powerline — this includes trees, fences, vehicles or debris.

Major roads and highways

  • Hazards on major roads → Main Roads WA (138 138)
  • Hazards on local roads → Shire (9526 1111)

Water and wastewater

For water-related issues, including burst mains or sewer overflows, call Water Corporation (13 13 75).

Thank you for your patience

Storm recovery can take time, especially when there are multiple requests across the region. We appreciate your patience while crews continue to respond to issues.
