Food Safety Program and Training

We support local food businesses in meeting food safety requirements through education, guidance, and regulatory compliance.

Our Environmental Health team routinely inspects and assesses all food businesses operating within the Shire.

For detailed information about food safety legislation and standards, please refer to the Department of Health website.

What is FoodSafe?

The National Food Safety Standard requires food handlers to have appropriate skills and knowledge in food hygiene practices.

FoodSafe is a nationally recognised training program developed by Environmental Health Australia in consultation with government, industry, academia and consumers. The program provides practical, introductory food hygiene training for people working in food businesses.

Ensuring staff are properly trained helps reduce the risk of foodborne illness and supports compliance with food safety requirements.
