WA Tree Festival

Celebrate SJ’s renowned natural beauty with us over the next month as we join the WA Tree Festival!

The WA Tree Festival is a WALGA initiative sponsored by the Department of Water and Environmental Regulation and a community celebration of trees in the state’s urban areas and beyond. This festival highlights the vital role trees play in creating greener, healthier, cooler living spaces. The Shire of Serpentine Jarrahdale is participating for the first time in 2026.

Come celebrate our trees with walks, workshops and children’s activities – plus, vote for SJ’s favourite local tree species and help us find the shire’s widest tree!

When is it?
Saturday 11 April - Saturday 10 May.

What’s on?

Significant Tree Register

Did you know the Shire has a Significant Tree Register? The register provides an important step in a process to record, recognise and protect trees that are special or significant, and to promote special trees that characterise the Shire.

Residents who are aware of a tree in the Shire of Serpentine Jarrahdale that they think is special or significant can become Tree Trackers and nominate it for assessment against the criteria for inclusion on the Shire’s Significant Tree Register.

Don't forget your Treebate!

Don’t forget that 10,000 West Australians each year until 2029 can get a $150 cash rebate on the purchase of native trees. This is part of the State Government’s ‘Treebate’ program, which aims to help re-tree Perth to combat the effects of urbanisation, climate change and the recent arrival of the polyphagous shot hole borer. It’s as easy as one, two, tree!

Treebate supports the State Government’s commitment to increasing urban canopy to 30 per cent by 2030 as part of the first-ever Urban Greening Strategy launched in January 2026.
