The Expo aims to empower adults over 55 by promoting health, wellbeing, active living and social connection, while improving access to local services and community resources.
Over 100 seniors attended the event this year, which offered a mix of interactive fitness sessions, health education, service information and social engagement opportunities.
From the moment visitors started to arrive, the event was alive with conversation and camaraderie. Attendees had the opportunity to connect with a range of trusted service providers, discover helpful resources, and learn practical ways to support their wellbeing, all in a relaxed and welcoming environment.
These kinds of events are important in supporting residents and helping them feel valued and connected to their community, enabling our older residents to live well at every stage of life. And we love hosting them – there were plenty of smiles throughout the morning.
Some of the key activities included Zumba, Keep Fit, Chair Yoga, an Injury Matters health presentation, and a morning tea. Stallholders represented a broad range of health, wellbeing, legal, recreation and community support organisations.
It was great to see so many people getting involved - and who knew Zumba could be so exhausting… The were some great recipes and useful appliance adaptations to ensure safety – think tilting-to-pour kettles and jar openers. To make the experience even more enjoyable, guests were invited to sit back and enjoy a delicious morning tea, giving them a chance to pause, reflect, and connect with others over a warm cup of tea.
This event celebrated healthy ageing, strong community connections, and the simple joy of coming together in our community.
