Byford’s growing recreation precinct at Briggs Park was officially opened on Wednesday 15 April 2026, marking a major milestone for local outdoor recreation and active living.
Western Australian Premier Roger Cook, joined by Shire President Rob Coales and Member for Darling Range Hugh Jones MLA, formally opened the new Byford Bike Pump Track alongside the recently upgraded Byford Skate Park.
The two facilities sit side‑by‑side at Briggs Park, creating a vibrant recreation hub that encourages people of all ages and abilities to get active, build skills and connect with others in a welcoming outdoor setting. Since opening, both the skate park and pump track have been well used by local families, young people and riders from across the region, reinforcing Byford’s reputation as a destination for high‑quality community recreation.
During the opening event, Premier Roger Cook highlighted the role of accessible community infrastructure in supporting healthy lifestyles and strong local communities. Visitors can watch the Premier’s speech from the official opening here.
The Byford Skate Park and Bike Pump Track are part of the Shire’s ongoing commitment to delivering inclusive, contemporary recreation spaces that respond to community feedback and support a connected, active future for Serpentine Jarrahdale.
State Government funding of $2.14 million were made towards the delivery of the Byford Skate Park and Byford Bike Pump Track.
