Anzac Day commemorates the landing of the Australian and New Zealand Army Corps at Gallipoli on 25 April 1915, a campaign where more than 8,000 Australian soldiers died in the campaign.
Since then, more than 1.5 million Australians have served in wars, conflicts and peacekeeping operations to defend our country and shared values.
Anzac Day remains one of the most significant days on the national calendar, providing an opportunity to pause, reflect and pay tribute to those who served our nation in times of war, conflict and peacekeeping, and to those who made the ultimate sacrifice.
Held at the Mundijong War Memorial, commemorations began with a dawn service, hosted by the Serpentine Jarrahdale RSL sub-branch in collaboration with the Shire, followed by the Shire’s Processional March and Commemorative Service at 9am.
Both services allowed the community to collectively remember and honour the courage, mateship and resilience that still define the Anzac spirit.
The Serpentine Jarrahdale RSL Anzac Day Dawn Service and Gunfire Breakfast are supported by Lotterywest and RSLWA.
