Supporting community wellbeing in Serpentine Jarrahdale

Mental wellbeing is an important part of overall health. The Shire of Serpentine Jarrahdale supports mental wellbeing by helping to create safe, inclusive and connected communities, and by linking residents to trusted support services and resources.

The Shire does not provide clinical mental health services, counselling or crisis care. Instead, our role is to support wellbeing through community spaces, programs, education and referrals.

Proud Act Belong Commit Partner
The Shire is proud to be an Act Belong Commit Partner, aligning our organisation with one of Western Australia's most recognised and evidence-based health promotion campaigns.  As a partner we are committed to supporting position mental health and wellbeing be encouraging people to Act (stay active mentally, physically, socially, spiritually and culturally), Belong (stay connected with family friends and community), and Commit (engage in activities that provide meaning and purpose).
Through this partnership we have access to a range of Act Belong Commit resources and are equipped to help educate our community about practical ways to maintain good mental health and wellbeing through everyday activities, social connection and community involvement.

How the Shire supports mental wellbeing

Safe and welcoming community spaces

The Shire provides inclusive community spaces that support social connection, learning and belonging, including libraries and community facilities. These spaces offer opportunities for people of all ages to connect, participate and access information in a welcoming environment.

Through youth services and partnerships, the Shire supports programs and initiatives that build confidence, resilience and social connection for young people. These activities focus on early support, skill development and creating positive connections within the community.
