Draft Local Planning Strategy
The Draft Local Planning Strategy will guide the Shire’s progress towards its vision to provide a rural lifestyle of choice offering a unique and attractive environment to work, live and visit.
It provides strategic direction, which over the long term, will deliver a more consolidated urban form where residents will live closer to local shops, services and employment with easy access to public transport and greater ability to walk or cycle.
The Draft Local Planning Strategy promotes urban consolidation by making better use of existing infrastructure and land to plan for growth.
Draft Local Planning Scheme No.3
The directions set out in the Draft Local Planning Strategy will be implemented through the Shire’s Draft Local Planning Scheme No.3.
Local planning schemes are prepared with the objective of making suitable provisions for the improvement, development and use of land within the local planning scheme area.
Local planning schemes provide a statutory mechanism for the control of land use and development.

Notice is hereby given that the Shire of Serpentine Jarrahdale has prepared the above mentioned Draft Local Planning Strategy and Draft Local Planning Scheme No. 3.
Plans and documents setting out and explaining the Draft Local Planning Strategy and Draft Local Planning Scheme No. 3 have been deposited at the Shire’s administration building at 6 Paterson Street, Mundijong and is available for inspection during office hours between 8:30am to 5:00pm. Details of this proposal can also be downloaded below.
Submissions on the Draft Local Planning Strategy and Draft Local Planning Scheme No. 3 may be lodged in writing before 10 January 2020 by:
- email to info@sjshire.wa.gov.au
- online via the link below
- by mail or in person to 6 Paterson Street, Mundijong and should include the reference number, property affected and details of the submission and lodged with the undersigned.
