Youth Weaving Workshop ( Ages 12 to 17)

Weaving Workshop at Byford Library

Learn the basics of weaving and discover a simple, hands-on way to slow down and create something unique.

This workshop is open to everyone. Whether you’re completely new to weaving or have some experience and want to build on your skills, you’re welcome to join and explore at your own pace.

During this interactive session, you will:

  • View examples of woven pieces

  • Explore a variety of materials

  • Learn how to set up and weave on a loom

  • Experiment with colour, texture, and pattern

  • Create your own woven piece

  • Discover ways to incorporate reused and repurposed materials into your work

What you’ll get:

  • All materials provided (loom, yarns, and fibres)

  • Basic weaving notes to take home

  • Inspiration and ideas from your facilitator, Elise, and fellow participants

What to bring:

  • Nothing required – all materials are supplied

  • Optional: small pieces of yarn, fabric strips, or fibres if you have specific colours in mind

  • Your imagination and enthusiasm!
