Home Composting Workshop
Friday 15th May 2026

Turn your everyday food scraps into a valuable resource at this practical and welcoming Home Composting Systems Workshop.
Designed for residents of the Shire of Serpentine-Jarrahdale, this interactive session will be led by Robyn Brown from Waste is My Resource, an experienced educator in sustainable waste practices. You’ll be introduced to a variety of composting methods—including worm farms, bokashi bins, and worm tubes—and guided on how to choose the option that best suits your home, space, and lifestyle.
Throughout the workshop, you’ll learn simple, effective ways to set up and care for your composting system. From balancing green and brown materials to managing moisture and airflow, you’ll gain the confidence to keep your compost thriving. Common challenges like odours, pests, and slow breakdown will also be covered, with practical tips to help you overcome them. Come along, ask questions, and enjoy a relaxed, hands-on learning experience.
Whether you’re completely new or looking to improve your current setup, you’ll leave with useful skills, fresh ideas, and the confidence to turn your household waste into something your garden will love.
