The Shire is pleased to advise that Coles and Woolworths have agreed to remediation works along the access road (informally referred to as Pioneer Road) to Byford Village, which will provide unrestricted pedestrian access between the two shopping complexes.

This will involve the removal of the 1.2m black PVC coated link mesh fence and lowering of pavement levels.

The Shire has worked closely with Coles and Woolworths over the last 12 months to achieve this outcome for the benefit of our community.

The remediation works are being carried out by Woolworths.

Schedule of works

The Shire has been advised that the proposed schedule for the works are as follows:

  • Friday 13 December: Part of the 1.2m black PVC coated link mesh fence will be removed, from the end of Pioneer Road to the Medical Centre.
  • Friday 13 December – Wednesday 15 January: All other remediation works to be carried out, with the majority of the works to commence Monday, 6 January.

Access to Byford Village

Vehicle and pedestrian access to Byford Village will not be interrupted during the works. Vehicle access will be available in and out via Pioneer Road, and pedestrian access will be available via the footpath on the eastern side of Pioneer Road.
