The hunt is on to see whose star will shine the brightest in the Shire of Serpentine Jarrahdale’s inaugural SJ Christmas Lights Competition.

Registrations are now open for the SJ Christmas Lights Competition, which aims to highlight the sparkling displays showcased across the Shire over the festive season.

Shire President Cr Michelle Rich said the competition was an exciting way to spread Christmas cheer across Serpentine Jarrahdale.

“This new competition is a great way for our community to celebrate the holiday season together, aligning with our goal to create a more activated community,” Cr Rich said.

“We have some magnificent Christmas lights displays in SJ and I look forward to seeing this year’s Christmas lights displays.”

Entry is free with categories for:

• Best Residential Christmas lights display
• Best Business Christmas lights display

Prizes will be awarded to the top three displays across both categories, with first prize valued at $500, second place at $250 and third place at $100.

A two-week voting period will open on 1 December 2021, with photos of each entry to be uploaded to a gallery on the Shire’s Facebook page.

The community will be invited to vote for their favourite displays by “liking” their photo in the gallery.

The Shire’s website will also feature an interactive map showing the addresses of all displays entered in the competition over the voting period for residents to explore the SJ Christmas Lights Trail.

Registrations close Wednesday, 24 November 2021.

Winners of the SJ Christmas Lights Competition will be announced on Friday, 17 December 2021.
