Public Notice: Long Term Temporary Road Closure- Gossage Road, Cardup

In accordance with the Local Government Act 1995 requirements for long-term temporary road closures the Shire of Serpentine Jarrahdale advises that Gossage Road will be temporarily closed between Kargotich Road and Hopkinson Road, Cardup to allow Water Corporation to extend Bridge 153

Closure Details:

Location Gossage Road, between Kargotich Road and Hopkinson Road.
Dates: 24/03/2026 to 25/05/2026 (weather permitting)

Why the Bridge is being extended:
In 2018, Bridge 153 was replaced with three 1.8m × 1.8 m box culverts. These culverts are now considered significantly undersized. Since the replacement, the capacity beneath the bridge has been significantly reduced, increasing the risk of flooding to properties upstream.
The project is jointly funded by Water Corporation and Main Roads WA.

Access during works

Detours will be in place for through traffic.

• Residents, property owners and local businesses within the closed section will still have access.
• A barrier will be installed at the bridge, so crossing at that point won’t be possible.

Other information

• Traffic management will be in place to keep everyone safe and reduce delays as much as possible.
• Rubbish collection will continue as usual.
