The Shire recently welcomed 36 new Australian citizens at a special Citizenship Ceremony celebrating the diversity and strength of the local community.
Our new citizens come from 10 countries across the globe: Brazil, Cambodia, Germany, India, Kenya, Mauritius, New Zealand, South Africa, the United Kingdom and Vietnam. The ceremony marked an important milestone for each individual and their families as they formally became part of the Australian community.

Guests at the event heard from Junior Shire President Carter Vassallo, Hugh Jones MLA (Member for Darling Range), and Martin Seward (SES Unit Manager), who each reflected on the meaning of citizenship and the value of community connection.
Adding to the occasion, a beautiful musical performance by Ava Sharp, which provided a memorable and uplifting moment for attendees.
The Shire was also honoured to welcome Hon Phil Twiss MLC, Yaz Mubarakai MLA, members of the Junior Council and Shire Elected Members, who joined in celebrating this significant event.

Citizenship ceremonies are an important part of community life, recognising the shared values of respect, inclusion and belonging. This event highlighted the richness that cultural diversity brings to the Shire and reinforced the strong sense of connection among residents.
The ceremony concluded with a warm welcome to the newest citizens, congratulating them as they begin this their chapter as Australians.
