More than $52,000 in funding has been awarded to local community groups, schools and not-for-profit organisations through the Shire of Serpentine Jarrahdale's latest General Grants Program, helping bring a diverse range of community projects, events and programs to life.

A total of 15 organisations shared in $52,181.57 in funding, supporting initiatives ranging from sporting equipment and community events to accessibility improvements, heritage projects, environmental programs and family support initiatives.

Among the successful recipients were Landcare SJ for its Habitat Box Project, Serpentine Foothills Polocrosse Club for the Junior International Test Series, Mundijong Primary School P&C for its 130th Anniversary Community Heritage Celebration, Jarrahdale Playgroup for its Connecting Dads program, and Byford and Districts Croquet Club for new equipment to help grow participation.

Shire President Rob Coales CSM said the General Grants Program was designed to empower community organisations and volunteers to deliver projects that make a meaningful difference across the Shire.

"Our community is home to an incredible number of volunteers, community groups and organisations that work tirelessly to create opportunities, support local residents and strengthen community connections.

"These grants help turn great ideas into reality by providing local groups with practical support to deliver projects, purchase equipment, improve facilities and create new experiences for the community.

"Whether it's supporting young people through sport, enhancing accessibility, celebrating local heritage, protecting our environment or creating opportunities for families to connect, every project funded through this program contributes to making our Shire an even better place to live."

President Coales said the breadth of successful projects demonstrated the strength and diversity of the local community.

"One of the most rewarding aspects of this program is seeing the wide variety of initiatives that emerge from our community.

"Year after year, local organisations come forward with innovative ideas that address local needs, bring people together and create positive outcomes for residents.

"I encourage community groups with a project, program or initiative they would like to deliver to explore the funding opportunities available through the Shire. These grants can often be the catalyst that helps a great idea become a reality."

The funded projects include sporting and recreation initiatives, environmental projects, community education programs, heritage celebrations, disability support initiatives and equipment purchases that will benefit local residents for years to come.

The Shire's General Grants Program provides financial assistance to eligible organisations undertaking projects, events and activities that deliver positive community outcomes.
