The Shire of Serpentine Jarrahdale is set to showcase the region's renowned trail network on the world stage when the World Trails Conference 2026 comes to Perth from 19 to 22 October 2026.

The event is the world's foremost trails conference, bringing together trail managers, researchers, tourism operators, conservation leaders, First Nations representatives and outdoor recreation experts from across the globe.

The annual conference, which first began in Spain in 2018, will feature more than 65 sessions and workshops, international keynote speakers, networking opportunities and trail experiences highlighting best-practice trail management, tourism and conservation.

Shire President Rob Coales CSM said the conference represented an exciting opportunity for the Shire and the wider Peel region.

"The World Trails Conference is regarded as the premier international gathering for the trails sector, and it is fantastic to see Western Australia chosen to host such a significant event.

"For Jarrahdale and the Shire of Serpentine Jarrahdale, this is a unique opportunity to showcase our stunning trail network to a global audience and highlight the important role trails play in supporting recreation, tourism, community wellbeing and economic development.

"I'm particularly proud of our newest horse-friendly trails which opened late last year, the Whim and Jinker Trails, which offer a 5km loop well suited for beginner riders, and a more challenging 20km trail through regrowth jarrah forest for intermediate riders.

"Also having one of our own speakers contribute to an event of this calibre demonstrates the growing reputation of the Jarrahdale Trails and reinforces our position as one of Western Australia's leading trail destinations."

The conference's theme, 'Trails to the Future: Connection, Culture & Conservation', explores the role of trails in environmental stewardship, cultural understanding and sustainable tourism outcomes.

President Coales said it’s fantastic to see Jarrahdale marketed to an international audience.

"To have the World Trails Conference hosted in Western Australia is incredibly exciting for the entire outdoor recreation and tourism sector.

"Western Australia is home to some of the most spectacular trail experiences in the world, and it’s particularly pleasing to see destinations like Jarrahdale represented on the program among the rest of the international trails community.

“The Jarrahdale Trails offer outstanding experiences that combine nature, history and adventure, and events like this help put those experiences on the world stage,” said President Coales.

The Shire looks forward to the conference and promoting the unique trail experiences that continue to attract visitors to Jarrahdale and the wider region.
