The Shire’s rural roadside rubbish collection program has not been cancelled.

Recent social media commentary has suggested the program had been stopped due to budget constraints. This information is not correct.

At the June Council Meeting, Council resolved to undertake a review of the current rural roadside rubbish collection program, with a particular focus on the safety of volunteers and the broader community when operating along roadways.

The review will consider the current program and identify recommended solutions to support its continuation in a safe and sustainable way.

The findings of the review, along with any recommended solutions, will be reported back to Council.

In the meantime, the Shire has confirmed all verge collections will continue as scheduled and are not affected.

The Shire appreciates the community’s interest and understanding while the review is undertaken.
