Residents and visitors can now enjoy a safer and more connected journey between the Serpentine Town Centre and the iconic Serpentine National Park, with construction complete of the new Falls Road Shared Path.
The project adds approximately 2.3 kilometres of new shared walking and cycling path, creating an important active transport link while improving safety, accessibility and connectivity for pedestrians and cyclists.
The $1.5 million Falls Road Shared Path project was a 2025 election commitment by Member for Darling Range Hugh Jones, which strengthens connectivity between the town centre, schools, community facilities, local businesses and one of our region's most popular tourism destinations.
The project has delivered:
• 1.2 kilometres of shared path connecting the Serpentine Town Centre along Wellard Street and Karnup Road to South Western Highway, improving links between schools, community facilities, businesses and the wider shared path network while replacing older and incomplete pedestrian infrastructure.
• 1.1 kilometres of new shared path along Falls Road from South Western Highway to the entrance of Serpentine National Park, completing a key missing link in the active transport network and providing a safer route for pedestrians and cyclists visiting the area.
The Falls Road Shared Path delivers a range of benefits to the community such as:
• Improved pedestrian and cyclist safety.
• Enhanced connectivity between the Serpentine Town Centre and Serpentine National Park.
• Encouraging walking, cycling and healthy lifestyles.
• Improved access to one of the region's premier tourism destinations.
• Supporting the Shire's vision of creating connected, active and liveable communities.

“This project was borne from conversations I had with Serpentine residents who took the time to speak with me about safe pedestrian access in and around their community.
“I committed funding to the project on behalf of the Cook Labor Government, to give the Shire of Serpentine Jarrahdale the means to deliver the new shared walking and cycling path, and I commend them for getting on with the job.
“The new footpath links Serpentine National Park with Serpentine Town Centre, making sure visitors and residents alike can get around safely and conveniently and more readily enjoy our beautiful community.
