General Grants are now open: bringing community initiatives to life

The Shire of Serpentine Jarrahdale’s General Grants Program is now open, inviting local not-for-profit organisations and incorporated community groups to apply for up to $5,000 in funding.

This program is all about supporting the heart of our community — the people, volunteers and groups who work every day to make SJ a more connected, welcoming and vibrant place to live.

Offered three times each year, the General Grant helps bring a wide range of community-led initiatives to life. From neighbourhood gatherings and creative projects to programs that support vulnerable residents, these grants help turn passion into impact.

Celebrating our past recipients

We’ve been proud to support many inspiring local organisations, including:

  • Homelessness We Care Serpentine Jarrahdale and Surrounds
  • Byford Community Kindergarten
  • Serpentine Historical Society
  • Darling Range Wildlife Shelter

These groups deliver meaningful outcomes for local residents, contribute to community wellbeing and help strengthen our local identity.

More support available

Alongside the General Grants, the Shire also offers other grant opportunities to support a variety of community needs:

Available year-round

  • Youth Leadership and Training Grant – up to $200
  • Friendly Neighbourhoods Grant – up to $250
  • Sporting Travel Grant – up to $500

Offered twice per year

  • Major Events Grant – supporting larger-scale community events that activate public spaces, encourage participation and strengthen local identity.
