Flags will be flown at half-mast today in honour of former Councillor and Honorary Freeman, John Kirkpatrick, who passed on Wednesday, 10 June 2026.

Shire President Rob Coales said Mr Kirkpatrick would be remembered for his outstanding service and lasting contributions to the Serpentine Jarrahdale community.

“John served as a Councillor for nearly two decades from 1995 to April 2010, and again following his re-election in October 2011 until 2015,” President Coales said.

“John was awarded with WALGA’s Long and Loyal Service Award in 2009, represented the Shire on a number of committees and was a strong advocate for our community’s future.”

Beyond Council, Mr Kirkpatrick was involved with the Jarrahdale Bushfire Brigade and played a key role in the restoration of St Paul’s Church in Jarrahdale.

“The Shire extends its heartfelt condolences to Mr Kirkpatrick’s family and friends and honours his enduring legacy within the community,” President Coales said.
