A smoother journey ahead for Randell Road motorists

There's good news for motorists travelling along Randell Road in Mardella, with road improvements now complete following a significant increase in traffic from detours associated with the Tonkin Highway Extension project.

The temporary closure of Mundijong Road has seen more vehicles using surrounding local roads, including Randell Road, as alternative routes.

Like many rural roads across Serpentine Jarrahdale, Randell Road was originally designed to accommodate relatively low traffic volumes.

The additional vehicles have placed considerable pressure on the road, particularly its gravel shoulders, which have experienced significant wear as motorists move aside to allow oncoming traffic to pass.

Recognising the impact on local road users, the Tonkin Highway Extension Alliance has undertaken works to repair and level the road’s gravel shoulders, addressing uneven surfaces and improving driving conditions for motorists.

As one of Western Australia's fastest-growing communities, Serpentine Jarrahdale is no stranger to growing pains.

While major infrastructure projects can bring temporary disruptions, they also pave the way for important improvements that will benefit our community for years to come.

The Tonkin Highway Extension is a significant investment in our region's future, delivering improved connectivity, safer journeys and better access for residents, businesses and visitors.

We appreciate the patience and understanding of local residents as these works progress and will continue working with the Tonkin Highway Extension Alliance to help minimise construction impacts on our local road network.
