Collection of personal information

Your personal information is being collected by the Shire of Serpentine Jarrahdale for the purpose of assessing your suitability and eligibility for employment and, if you accept a role, employing you and managing your employment.

During recruitment, onboarding and employment the Shire may collect:

  • General contact and identification details
  • Bank account, tax file number and superannuation details
  • Contact details of referees and emergency contact
  • Information about your education and work history, qualifications, and eligibility to work
  • Sensitive personal information, such as information about your medical history, criminal record and racial or ethnic origin
  • Drivers’ licence
  • Health information where there is an incident in the workplace

Personal information is collected in accordance with the Local Government Act 1995, Local Laws, and other applicable legislation.

Consequences of not providing personal information

If you do not provide the requested information, the Shire may be unable to complete the recruitment and employment process, or meet its legal obligations.

Use and disclosure of personal information

The Shire will use this information only for the purpose of assessing your suitability and eligibility for employment and, if you accept a role, employing you and managing your employment, or for a related purpose that an individual would reasonably expect.

Personal information may be disclosed to:

  • Shire employees where required to perform Human Resources functions
  • Other government agencies or third parties only where authorised or required by law

The Shire will not disclose personal information for unrelated purposes without consent, unless required by law.
