In accordance with Section 3.50(4) of the Local Government Act 1995, notice is hereby given that the Shire of Serpentine Jarrahdale proposes to permanently close the intersections of Thomas Road and Hopkinson Road (north and south) from 15 September 2025. These closures are required as part of the Tonkin Highway Extension and Thomas Road Upgrade (THETRU) Project and associated works.

Project Overview

As part of the THETRU Project, Thomas Road is being widened and duplicated between Kargotich Road and Alexander Road, including the construction of a new grade-separated interchange at the intersection of Thomas Road and Tonkin Highway.

To facilitate these upgrades and to maintain traffic access during construction, temporary realignments of Tonkin Highway and Thomas Road are required. As part of these works, the permanent closure of the intersections of Thomas Road/Hopkinson Road (north and south) is proposed to be implemented.

These closures are intended to enhance road safety, improve long-term traffic efficiency, and support the functionality of the future interchange.
