The Shire of Serpentine Jarrahdale has loads of FREE activities and events happening over the summer school holidays, giving families plenty of easy ways to spend time together close to home.
Familiar family favourites like our Summer Splash and Australia Day Breakfast are making a return, along with a range of activities across the Shire
Creative and craft workshops, STEM sessions, music and movement activities, story times, movie screenings, and drop-in play are just some of the options on offer, with sessions suitable for toddlers through to teens.

Booking info (the important bits)
- All events are free, but some activities are ticketed and subject to availability
- Bookings are required for ticketed events
- If an event is sold out, a waitlist will be available, and families will be contacted if a spot opens up
- Children under 12 must be accompanied by an adult.
Between events, there are plenty of easy, everyday ways to keep kids entertained over the summer break in SJ. Here are a few suggestions:
- eResources, The library has plenty of free eResources for kids, including eBooks, eaudiobooks, and movies that you can access for free at home. Find out more here.
- Nintendo Switch gaming— Byford Library also has some great indoor play options on hot days like the Nintendo Switch. Kids can enjoy a game while parents relax nearby with a book.

- LEGO Club — happens at the Library all year round. The next session will be on 10 January, perfect for kids who love building and creating. No need to book. Just come on down.
- SJ Play Trails - offering a fun, self-guided family activity at different locations in SJ.
- Shaded parks and playgrounds for relaxed, low-key outings
- Skateparks in Mundijong, Serpentine, Jarrahdale and Byford, great for scooters, skateboards and bikes — best enjoyed early in the day or later in the evening during warmer weather
