Showcasing local SJ and WA native trees on Abernethy Road
More than 100 new native trees have been planted along Abernethy Road, helping to create a greener streetscape for the local community, consisting of:
• 66 x Eucalyptus forrestiana
• 14 x Eucalyptus laeliae
• 2 x Melaleuca preissiana
• 1 x Corymbia calophylla
The planting took place between Warrington Road and Soldiers Road, near Salvado Catholic College and Byford Secondary College, along with Coles and Woolworths, with new trees planted for sections of the road verge and median.
The project supports the Shire’s ongoing efforts to increase canopy cover, improve the look and feel of local streets, and create more comfortable public spaces for residents, pedestrians, and road users.
The new trees provide future shade, reducing heat island impacts, soften the streetscape, and contribute to a greener environment as Byford continues to grow.
