The Shire of Serpentine Jarrahdale has announced Chief Executive Officer Paul Martin will conclude his tenure with the organisation after accepting a new role.

Mr Martin joined the Shire in 2019, leading the organisation through a period of significant growth and transformation.

During this time, Serpentine Jarrahdale has become one of Australia’s fastest-growing local government areas, with annual population growth placing the Shire as the third fastest-growing local government area in the nation.

Under Mr Martin’s leadership, the Shire has advanced a number of significant projects and strategic initiatives to support its rapidly growing community.

These include the $35 million State Government-funded Keirnan Park Recreation Precinct, the Byford METRONET project, the Tonkin Highway extension and the Byford Health Hub.

Mr Martin has also led a range of improvement initiatives including the Leadership Development Program as part of the Shire’s Organisational Roadmap to strengthen organisational capability, and the OneComm project to streamline processes and deliver more accessible digital services for residents.

Shire President Rob Coales thanked Mr Martin for his outstanding leadership and contribution to the organisation and community.

“While we are naturally saddened to see Paul leave, we are incredibly grateful for the leadership, professionalism and vision he has brought to the Shire over the past seven years,” President Coales said.

“Paul has led the organisation during a period of unprecedented growth and has helped position Serpentine Jarrahdale to meet the opportunities and challenges that come with being one of Australia’s fastest-growing communities.

“On behalf of Council and the community, I sincerely thank Paul for his dedication to Serpentine Jarrahdale and wish him every success in his new role at the City of Nedlands.”
Mr Martin said it had been a privilege to serve the Serpentine Jarrahdale community.

“It has been an honour to work alongside Council, our staff and the community over the past seven years,” Mr Martin said.

“While this was not an easy decision, I leave knowing the Shire has an outstanding team and is well positioned to continue building on this momentum.”

Council will now commence recruitment for a new CEO and will provide further updates to the community as the process progresses.
