We’re excited to introduce the Shire’s very first Junior President and Deputy Junior President - Carter from Serpentine Primary and Ashley from Mundijong Primary!  

Elected by their fellow Junior Councillors, these two young leaders are stepping up to represent the voices of local students across SJ. 

They represent eight schools, with each Junior Councillor nominated by their school community, and supported by principals, families and peers. 

The group will meet monthly through to December, learning how local government works and how decisions are made. 

Under their slogan “Our Shire, Our Voice”, they’ll explore issues that matter to young people and share ideas about the future of our community. 

This is a huge moment for youth leadership in SJ, and Carter and Ashley are already off to a brilliant start.

The inaugural Junior Council was inducted earlier this month, with the Shire's President Rob Coales in attendance.
