The Shire of Serpentine Jarrahdale is recognising the invaluable contribution of local volunteers as part of National Volunteer Week 2026.
This year’s theme, ‘Your Year to Volunteer’, inspires people to connect, grow, give and support our communities, strengthening our ties and fostering a sense of belonging in one another.
Shire President Rob Coales said National Volunteer Week is a great way to showcase and recognise community and grassroots volunteers for the essential work they do for local communities.
“National Volunteer Week is a tremendous opportunity to celebrate those serving our community with the ultimate act of goodwill.
“Local volunteers are the backbone of our community, giving their time, skills and energy to support their local community members. From supporting local events, sporting clubs, community groups and services, their contribution makes a real difference to the lives of people across Serpentine Jarrahdale.
“The Shire is proud to be supporting National Volunteer Week with a range of events for community members across Serpentine Jarrahdale.”
These events, taking place during National Volunteer Week, from 18-24 May 2026, offer an opportunity to recognise our existing volunteers, as well as encouraging new community members to get involved.
These events include our Rise and Shine Volunteer Appreciation Breakfast, to show our appreciation for those in the community who play key roles in local not-for-profit organisations.
The Shire has also partnered with Community Station, a trusted and passionate delivery partner helping empower volunteers, to put on a series of Volunteer Growth Workshops which will support and upskill our local volunteers.
Finally, we’re celebrating the first birthday of our Open House Community Space Mundijong, with support from the Shire’s Friendly Neighbourhood Grant.
Open House Community Space is a community group searching for volunteers to support people with disabilities and welcome the community to attend their event to sign up to assist.
