Emergency Services Awards Night recognises local heroes

Published on Tuesday, 16 June 2026 at 12:45:47 PM

The annual event brought together volunteers, emergency services personnel, families and community representatives to celebrate the significant contribution made by local brigades and State Emergency Service volunteers across the district.

Throughout the evening, awards were presented recognising years of service, leadership, commitment and outstanding contributions to emergency response and community safety.

Shire President Rob Coales said the awards night provided an important opportunity to formally acknowledge the people who continue to protect and support the community during emergencies and times of uncertainty.

“Our emergency services volunteers continue to demonstrate extraordinary professionalism, resilience and commitment to the Serpentine Jarrahdale community,” said President Coales.

“Behind every emergency response are individuals who willingly step away from their homes, families and workplaces to help others, often in difficult and unpredictable conditions.”

President Coales also acknowledged the efforts of brigades and emergency response agencies involved in the significant Mundijong Fire earlier this year.

“The response to the Mundijong Fire demonstrated not only the skill and professionalism of our local brigades and emergency services personnel, but also the strong collaboration that exists across our emergency services network,” he said.

As the third fastest growing local government in Australia, President Coales said maintaining strong and sustainable emergency services across the district remained critically important.

“With approximately 97 per cent of the Shire classified as bushfire prone, the work undertaken by our volunteers and emergency services personnel is absolutely vital to the safety and resilience of our growing community,” said President Coales.

The Shire also acknowledged the families, employers and support networks who assist volunteers behind the scenes and help make emergency service volunteering possible.
