Families and outdoor enthusiasts recently joined George Walley, Traditional Owner and guide with Off The Beaten Track WA, for a memorable walk through Serpentine's unique jarrah forest.

Speaking on behalf of the Binjareb-Wadjuk people, George shared how First Peoples drew knowledge, law, science and spirituality from Country, bringing the landscape to life through stories and cultural insights. Along the trail, participants stopped to learn about the medicinal plants found throughout the forest and their traditional uses.

The walk was particularly popular with families, providing children with the opportunity to spend a morning outdoors, connect with nature, and learn firsthand about Aboriginal culture and heritage.

George also acknowledged the longstanding conservation efforts of Jane Star and the Jarrahdale Heritage Society, represented by Vicky Kerfoot, who has helped preserve these natural bushland areas and ensure they remain accessible for future generations.

As the warmer days gradually return, there's no better time to explore the beautiful trails, forests and natural spaces that make Serpentine such a special destination.
